The General Directorate of Immigration has officially introduced a long-term visa “Second Home” for foreigners in Indonesia. This visa is intended for foreign citizens who plan to make a contribution to the Indonesian economy.
“The main goals are to attract foreign tourists to Bali and other destinations, Encouraging economic growth and Developing property business in Indonesia.”
Second Home Visa gives the right to stay in the country for 5 or 10 years (subject to all conditions) and engage in various activities that are NOT related to work. Also, “Second Home” visa holder can sponsor family (permit for followers) with the same period as the visa validity.
Main Requirements:
- Passport validity min 36 months;
- Proof of funds in the form of an Indonesian bank account owned by a foreigner of at least IDR 2 billion* OR proof of ownership of luxury real estate in Indonesia is required.

How To Apply For a Second Home Visa
STEP 1. Getting e-Visa to enter the country
To apply for eVisa, the applicant has to provide:
✔️ Passport valid for at least 36 months
✔️ A letter of guarantee stating that the applicant or guarantor will provide proof of funds with a minimum balance of IDR 2,000,000,000 or the equivalent of USD 150,000 / Hak Pakai (right to use) agreement of property (value of IDR 5,000,000,000) or apartment (value of IDR 2,000,000,000).

✔️ CV (curriculum vitae)
The process takes 8 business days. Once the e-Visa is ready, you will be able to come to Indonesia. You will have 90 days to use this visa after it has been issued.
STEP 2. Come to Indonesia
You will need to entrance through the ITAS section upon arrival. Your picture will be taken at the airport, and you will get your ITAS immediately. Airport immigration will stamp your passport, stating you must provide proof of funds/property within 90 days.
STEP 3. Provide the proof of funds or property
Within 90 days of issuing a Second Home ITAS, the applicant should provide Immigration with proof of sufficient funds for issuing an ITAS in the form of:
- an account owned by an applicant, for an amount of at least Rp. 2 billion in an Indonesian Government Bank (BNI, BRI, Mandiri)** or
- proof of ownership of luxury real estate in Indonesia on behalf of an applicant in form of Hak Pakai (Right to use) agreement of property value of Rp. 5 billion or apartment value of at least Rp. 2 billion.
In case of a foreigner cannot show proof of fund/property in an Indonesian state-owned bank within 90 days, the ITAS will be canceled by the Immigration.
* 5 years ITAS may be directly extended in 5 years since granted up to 5 or 10 years.
** Second Home ITAS holders can use the money in their bank account, provided that upon the immigration office’s request, they are able to provide a current balance statement of at least Rp. 2 billion again.
❗Retirement Kitas holders can still extend their stay permit until further notice.
