At the international airport Ngurah Rai in Bali, 30 Auto Gates have been opened to go through passport control, which significantly reduces the time spent at the airport upon arrival.

Silmy Karim, the Immigration Director General of Indonesia, recently addressed the media regarding the activation of auto-gates in both arrival and departure terminals.

Karim emphasized: “The immigration process now employs autogate technology coupled with facial recognition and border control management systems.”

He highlighted that these newly installed facilities are poised to expedite the processing duration at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, consequently minimizing waiting times.

Karim elucidated that utilizing facial recognition alongside border control management results in swift immigration checks, with autogate inspections typically lasting between 15 to 25 seconds.

Nevertheless, not all travelers passing through Bali Airport are eligible to utilize the autogates.

Who are Eligible to Use Auto Gate?

All travelers aged 14 and above with an e-visa and biometric passport can use the auto gate. In this case, there won’t be an entry stamp in your passport; all data will be recorded in the immigration system.

Important Note: Please be sure that you received your Stay Permit via email after passing passport control through the automatic gate.

Tourists holding an ASEAN passport also can access the autogates with their visa-exempt status in Indonesia.

However, they must precede their travel by registering their passport at evisa.immigration.go.id, while all Indonesian passport holders are granted autogate privileges without any additional pre-travel procedures.
