BPJS Kesehatan is Indonesia’s national mandatory health insurance system (JKN), administered by the BPJS Kesehatan agency.
Local companies and international employers operating in Indonesia are required to register and enroll their employees in BPJS Kesehatan and to pay insurance contributions in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Employers must enroll employees in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan immediately upon official hiring. This is a strict requirement of Indonesian law.
Residents in Indonesia who work as freelancers can also register as independent members of BPJS insurance. In this case, the monthly contribution must be paid by the individual.
