If you want to work and obtain income in Indonesia, you must get a Work KITAS that allows foreign citizens to work officially in the country. Currently, you can get a Work KITAS for 6 months or 12 months.
A work permit is the sole legal document that allows foreigners to work and obtain income in the territory of Indonesia.
This is a multiple-entry Stay Permit, so you can leave the country and come back as many times as you need during the validity of your Work KITAS.

Important: To submit documents, your current stay permit must have at least 31 days remaining before it expires.
System errors or new visa regulations from the Indonesian government may lead to changes in visa processing times, obtaining rules, or country entry regulations.
If you move to a new address, you must update the address on your KITAS. Also, if a KITAS holder obtains a new passport, the KITAS must be transferred from the old passport to the new one.
Please note: All types of KITAS must be either closed or extended (if this option is available) before expiry.
The process of extension should start not later than 2 months before the expiration date of the current KITAS.
Please note: Only 1-Year Work KITAS is extendable, and 6-month KITAS cannot be extended but possible to get a new one through a bridging visa.

Your KITAS must be closed if you are not planning to continue working and extending your KITAS. If your ITAS expires while abroad, you can close the KITAS within the country before leaving and outside the country.
