Indonesia’s Second Home Visa is the Limited Stay Permit (KITAS), which gives the right to stay in the country up to for 5 years and engage in various nonwork-related activities such as investing, tourism visits, and retirement.

The primary requirement for obtaining this visa is to demonstrate proof of funds, either through an Indonesian bank account owned by a foreigner with a minimum balance of USD 130,000 or through ownership of luxury real estate in Indonesia valued at least USD 1,000,000.

Who is eligible to apply for a Second Home Visa?

The Second Home visa is for specific foreign nationals and former Indonesian citizens who wish to stay and make a positive contribution to the Indonesian economy. So any foreigner who fulfills the requirements and is at least 19 years old may apply for a Second Home Visa.

How To Apply For a Second Home Visa

STEP 1. Obtaining an e-Visa to Enter Indonesia

  • Collect all required documents and submit your visa application online.
  • E-visa processing takes 7–10 working days (expedited processing is available upon request).
  • Once your e-Visa is issued, you must use it to enter Indonesia within 90 days.

STEP 2. Arriving in Indonesia

  • At the airport during passport control, your photo will be taken, and you will receive your KITAS immediately.
  • Important: You are required to provide proof of funds or property ownership within 90 days after entering Indonesia.

STEP 3. Submitting Proof of Funds or Property

  • Within 90 days of receiving the Second Home ITAS, you must submit proof* of sufficient funds or property ownership to Immigration in one of the following forms:
    • A personal bank account in your name with a minimum balance of 130,000 USD in an Indonesian government-owned bank (BNI, BRI, or Mandiri).**
    • Proof of ownership of luxury real estate in Indonesia registered in your name, with a Hak Pakai (Right to Use) agreement and a property value of at least USD 1,000,000.

*If proof of funds or property ownership is not provided within 90 days, your ITAS will be canceled by Immigration.

System errors or new visa regulations from the Indonesian government may lead to changes in visa processing times, obtaining rules, or country entry regulations.

DON’T MISS!

If you move to a new address, you must update the address on your KITAS. Also, if a KITAS holder obtains a new passport, the KITAS must be transferred from the old passport to the new one.
